Do you all think I have bacterial vaginosis?

Linesa asked:

I have been having bad odor sometimes when I have sex or after my period go off. I do take bath and clean it but it seem not to help. I have also been getting vagina discharge. Two years ago, I was told I had HPV but my last pap was okay. Now i’m 9 months late from taking my pap and I don’t know if the HPV came back. I am going to set an appointment to take it next week. Do you think I just have bacterial vaginosis?

It’s highly possible…with BV you may also get a very thick greyish discharge and the smell is more or less there all of the time but worse after sex. try avoid using soaps or anything that may disrupt your normal pH balance down there.

Could be BV. It is characterized by a foul “fishy” odor and a discharge. You must also have discharge producing STDs ruled out (gonorrhea and chlamydia, trichomonas) along with all STDs. See more on BV here.

For the HPV, I recommend that you see your doctor to re-examine it.

For the symptoms that you have, bad odor with vaginal discharge, it is common symptoms of bacterial vaginosis (BV). The symptoms are even worse after sex. It’s better that you avoid sex during your BV treatment, to help you getting a faster & better relief. Douching is also prohibited since it would more disturb the “good” and “bad” bacterial balance in the vagina, and will make matters worse.

You need to treat your BV very soon, because the untreated BV can lead to a more serious condition, such as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), and can be more susceptible to sexual transmitted disease.
