Is it possible to have bacterial vaginosis again within 2 weeks of treating it?
Leah asked:
I was told I had bacterial vaginosis about a month ago. I used the gel antibiotic given to me by my doctor for about 7-9 days as instructed. I was fine with no discharge for about 2 weeks, then i got my period. After my period i started having some discharge again. Is it possible that i have bacterial vaginosis again so soon? could it have been the tampons?

what is bacterial vaginosis
Because Bacterial Vaginosis is categorized as a condition due to an imbalance/overgrowth of unhealthy bacteria, and a number of factors can offset normal balance at any given time during a woman’s cycle, yes, it is possible to have recurring bacterial vaginosis episodes. In order to get to the root problem of BV, a woman must first understand what the real reason is behind her suffering from reocurring BV problems.

Oh yes, most certainly! No woman should have to experience that uncomfortable feeling, but it happens. I had major problems with it for months and found out months later of having it that my boyfriend needed to be treated too!!! The doctor didn’t know/tell me; I was told by a pharacmist THAT WE BOTH HAVE TO BE TREATED EVEN IF HE DOESN’T SHOW ANY SIGNS!!!! Anyways we both went on an antobiotic pill (can’t remember the name of it) G
Good luck
(If I’m stressed, I will get it again, also.)
Go back to the doctor, avoid tampons for a cycle or two and wear looser pants. Avoid risque activities that can introduce bacteria there, and use protection.
what is bacterial vaginosis
Many women have a recurring outbreak within a short time of the initial treatment, so it’s possible that you’re getting it again.
